Lady of the Thread's Sewing Basket

Just one more sleeve to finish up and I’ll be done with my Ayame coat! ^_^ I got the first one done last night and am working on the other now.



It came out well but I don’t think I want to do another costume with so much tailoring again soon. ^_^; I love to embellish, more than actual sewing, but the sleeve cuffs are probably the most detailed part of the whole outfit. So, I think the lack of embellishment work made me kind of bored and feel like the thing was taking much too long. :-/ Didn’t really get to try out anything new on this costume either since my idea to use piping for the trim didn’t work out. But, it should definitely be done for Anime Boston, which is good.

Speaking of Anime Boston, it’s less than a month away and I still haven’t decided on a final costume list. ^_^; The new Ayame and my blue brocade Count D are definites because I need them for the hall contest and cosplay chess. And I want to wear the peacock dress for the ball. But I’d like to bring one or two more costumes and I’m not sure what to pick.

Formal Terra would be my first choice but I want to take in the dress a little and fix up some things and I’m not sure how much I’ll get done before then. I’m a bit tempted to bring one of my Twelve Kingdoms costumes since I know someone else is working on Kyou-Ou for the con but the outfits are kind of heavy. I’d like to wear my old Ayame at least once this year since I still love the coat but if I brought it to AB, I’d have 4 crossplays which I think is a bit much.

I finally seem to be getting over the last of my cold. It wasn’t too bad but the cough just wouldn’t go away and kept me from sleeping well for the past several days. Didn’t make any significant costume progress over the weekend since I was feeling lazy. Did get some work done this afternoon reorganizing old mail though. (since my father misplaced a particularly important piece!)

And it seems like registration for all the cosplay events at Anime Boston has opened. I feel unprepared and still need to figure out what I’m doing. ^_^; Not interested in being in the masquerade although I’d like to sign up for the hall contest. I’d probably use the new Ayame outfit I want to make. There’s over 3 months until the con so I should have time to finish it by then. I don’t really like to sign up for contests before the costume is finished though. ^_^;; It makes me feel a bit like I’m hogging a spot but I guess I’d have to sign up early if I want to be in this contest since they’re only taking 40 entries.

I’d like to apply for chess, too, although not exactly sure where my characters would best fit in the Angst vs. Sugar theme. ^_^; I’ll probably submit my old Ayame and my second Count D. Need some new pictures though since I don’t think I have back views of either of those.
