So, the wedding I’ve mentioned in previous entries was last night. A daughter of my father’s cousin got married and the ceremony and reception were at the botanic garden. When we first walked in, my parents were looking around and wondering, “Are we in the right place?” because we didn’t see anyone we knew and there were four guys in kilts. (The men in the wedding party wore them.) Hmm… Kilts and cheongsams… There’s something you don’t see together everyday! *laugh*

The ceremony went pretty quickly and was followed by drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the conservatory. (We walked right by a spot where some of my Count D pictures were taken! Too bad my camera turned out to be out of batteries. -_-;) Afterwards we went back to the place the ceremony was and it had been set up for dinner and dancing. Possibly the oddest thing I’ve seen at a wedding yet: the tables had centerpieces that included a glass bowl with several little goldfish swimming around in it! o_o Dinner was soup, pasta, filet mignon or Cornish hen, cookies and Napoleon for desert, and wedding cake. (Wow, that was a lot of sweets!)

It was one of the smallest weddings I can remember attending (probably around 100 guests) but rather nice. ^_^ It was certainly a change from the usual Chinese wedding banquets.

And here’s a picture of the dress I made for the party, taken after we got home and I changed my camera batteries. Sorry it’s such a terrible picture. (I hate how big and round my head tends to come out in photos, too. -_-) I’ll have to get some that show the dress better sometime. I made the yellow frog buttons myself and all the yellow along the edges is gold trim, mostly sewn on by hand.

Went out and picked up my Petshop of Horrors artbook today. Lots of pretty pictures. ^_^ And it turns out the colors I picked for the peacock dress were all wrong but more on that next time. XD;

Yeah, dead version of D’s father would be scary. o_o;

Ooh, the phoenix robe should be nice. ^_^ Hmm… I’ve forgotten exactly what the museum outfit looks. It’s been a while since I’ve read that chapter and it’s in one of the volumes I don’t own yet. And yes, I can be hard trying to match prints. I noticed most floral prints are much busier than the simple one in the vacation outfit I’m thinking of doing. I’m guessing I’ll probably have to paint it myself if I want to match it exactly.

Haven’t seen Trinity Blood but I love looking at the costumes from it, so much detail! I’m planning to wear my original Count D for the cherry blossom festival next year, too. Should have pictures of that soon hopefully. My brother took some yesterday but I’m not sure when he’ll get them to me. I only got to posting Count D pics from Halloween the other day since that’s when he gave them to me. ^_^;

Hmm… Maybe, the gothic impression is from the anime? They did seem to make Count D’s lips and nails rather dark there although they weren’t actually black. And it lacked much of the humor found in the manga.

The more I think about it the more I want to do D's father correctly, (minus the bullet holes) but I have no idea as to what colours that outfit is. I know both his eyes are violet and I already have the contacts. Do you have any suggestions for colour aside from white with gold trim?

The museum outfit is mainly white with plain gold trim and a floral print vest with four bows down the front instead of silk frog clasps. I don't know the colour on that but I chose a light blue juaquard silk that was close to the floral pattern used on the vest. I have a feeling the vest is supposed to be a light gold colour with wine coloured edging. Whenever the edging is dark it's usually supposed to be redish. But I just like blues better and could'nt find the light gold in a pattern that was close. I may include a sash and add a pin at the collar to dress it up more, it is one of his most plain outfits.

Painting it all by hand...please don't! I'm in that hell right now with one of the Trinity blood costumes. The Queens dress is 9 yards of white silk sateen (just for the skirt, not including the cloak and train) and I have to hand paint on all the designs. Then hand embroider on all the pearls over top. On everything! Shoot me, shoot me now! ><; I'm just glad I'm not the one wearing this thing, it's going to weigh a ton!

You're right about the anime, it left out a lot of the humour and came out more x-files like. It was not really creepy, but it was somewhat disturbing. The evangeline blue song is haunting, it scared me one day when my sister was watching it in the basement and I was upstairs. It sounds like a ghost echoing.
