Procrastinating...

Hmm… It seems my family has been invited to another wedding. My father’s cousin/adopted brother has a daughter who is getting married in November. We’re also invited to one in a few weeks for a niece of my father’s business partner. Wonder if I should make/fix up something to wear? I wore a colorful suit the last time we went to a wedding and then felt plain because the reception was fancier than I expected. ^_^; Maybe, it’s time I finally fixed the zipper on my gold brocade gown…
Otherwise, not that much exciting is going on here. I’ve been doing a little pattern work for Count D but still need to go shopping before I can finish (ran out of large enough pieces of pattern paper). I’ve been putting off going out to buy fabric for the outfit since it keeps raining and I’d prefer not to drag around lots of fancy fabrics in the rain. I figure I’ll need a dark fabric for the dress (I’m thinking maybe dark blue) and then a lighter contrasting fabric for the lining since it doesn’t look nearly as dark. I also want to look for furry/fuzzy fabrics for prop plushies. I particularly want to make Q-Chan, the rabbit/bat that’s often perched on Count D’s shoulder, since he’s probably the most recognizable of the animals. The bird on the arm in the illustration would be cool, too, although I’m not sure how much luck I’ll have with it. And I think it’d be kind of fun to make a totetsu plushie since he appears pretty often and I find it funny how he’s always asking for permission to eat people. XD;
For those who haven’t seen it in person, I posted a detail shot of the scarves from my Terra costume: http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=825647
I’m kind of sad that my costumes tend to not photograph well detail-wise. I love doing tiny detail work and like how it looks when I’m standing in front of the mirror but most of it is just so small or subtle that it gets lost when photographed. ;_; Like how my tone-on-tone brocades from previous costumes tend to look like solid colors. I was actually trying to be less subtle with the Terra dress but I think I still didn’t succeed, especially on the scarves.

The scarves are really awesome! I love all the detail on the pink one, and the fringe/border things. ^^
