18th Century Corset and Pocket Hoops
Mar. 4th, 2009 10:04 pmSince there’s not that much I can do on my costumes until I buy fabric, I decided to throw my 18th century undergarments for Ekaterina on the dressform and take pics. They’ve been finished a while but I was trying to hold off on posting until I could get matching ribbon to tie the straps on the corset. But since it’s going to be at least a couple more days and I’m tired of waiting, oh, well. ^_^;
Anyway, I finally got the panniers to my satisfaction. They have steel hoop boning in them and can collapse to fit through doors. Plus, they double as pockets. ^_^ They have a slit in the top and adding a corresponding slit in your skirts allows you to put things inside. And since there’s boning to hold the shape, putting things in won’t cause lumps. :-D I think this is possibly one of the best things about this costume; I don’t bother to put pockets into most of my costumes because I tend to carry around so many things that they would end up lumpy if I actually used them. I’ll finally have an outfit where I won’t have to carry a bag!
