Now that Sakura Matsuri is over, I guess it’s time to plan for other events. Anyone going to the Japan Society cosplay party on the 15th? I already got a ticket and I’m planning to wear my Count D artbook kimono.

Panel application deadline for AnimeNext is coming up. Does anyone especially want me to do my seam finishes workshop there? Right now, I’m leaning towards not applying this year since I only got half a dozen people last year and I’d only get $10 back for doing a single panel. Plus, I usually request 90 minutes and run the thing solo. :-/ I’m happy when people show up and are interested in improving their sewing. But for that little, I’d rather spend the hour and a half hanging out with friends than giving myself a sore throat by talking on my own for over an hour. >_>;; (When I run it at AB, I get my badge completely reimbursed.) If anyone here wants to learn the material, I’d be willing to meet up at some point during the con and go over it quickly although I wouldn’t have most of my visual aids along like when I formally run the workshop. And I still have the optional $5 kits with all my notes and fabric samples for everything I cover.

And I’m still not completely decided on what to make for AnimeNext. I don’t have any groups to help decide. (If anyone wants to suggest one for a series I like, now would be a good time!) And although I have a bunch of cosplays I want to do sometime, I’m feeling kind of blah about any of them for this con. :-/ Because nearly everything I want to make is either down to the floor with long sleeves and layers (not good considering how warm it has already gotten this year!) or is non-anime. Right now, I think my most likely choice is going to be Valentine’s final episode dress from Gankutsuou since I’d be least likely to overheat in it. I’ve had the wig for this sitting around for like 3 years but never seem to actually get to it. >_>;

Sora’s Saiyuki princess costume from Kaleido Star
I still want to do this (I actually made the sleeve thingys a few years ago before it got shelved due to wig issues) and [livejournal.com profile] mostflogged showed me a wig at AB that seems like it would work well for Sora. I’d consider it for AnimeNext but I think it’d be a bit too much work for a month and a half since I’d want to play with sequins and embellishments.

Kyoya’s final episode costume from Ouran
I got glasses for Kyoya a few months back but considering how it’s gotten so warm already, I doubt I’ll want to wear a frilly velvet suit in mid-June. So, I think this is getting pushed back again to NYCC/NYAF.

Morgan LeFlay from Tales of Monkey Island
Planned for NYCC/NYAF. I want to save it for then since it’s from an American game.

Daphne’s Miss Scarlet costume from Scooby Doo Clue
I have this costume half done already so I’ll probably finish it up for NYCC/NYAF. If I run out of time though, I might use it for Halloween instead.

Layla’s Cinderella gown from Kaleido Star
Planned for Costume Con in 2011. Yep, still planning to do this. I really should start posting stuff in the community I made for the group sometime. ^_^;; And if anyone else wants to consider joining the Cinderella group for then, let me know.

Count D’s artbook cover outfit from Petshop of Horrors
Like the kimono, I’ve wanted to do this one ever since I got the artbook over 3 years ago. I want to make the butterfly designs as close as possible instead of just using butterfly brocade though so it’s going to be a lot of painting when I get to it. ^_^;;

Count D’s dragon hunter costume from Petshop of Horrors: Tokyo
I was quite amused when I saw this outfit for D in a video game themed chapter and want to do this sometime. XD;

Count D from Petshop of Horrors: Tokyo(?)
This one is from the back cover of one of the Japanese volumes and it’s only a maybe.

Lia’s Russian portrait gown from Le Chevalier D’eon (?)
Still on the fence about this one. I like this one best out of Lia’s gowns and it would give me a chance to use Ekaterina’s underpinnings for another costume. But it’s a lot of ivory fabric and I’d probably be scared of getting it dirty (I realized when making Youko I was a bit scared to wear it since it was so much white). If I did this, I’d probably save it for a con like AB where I wouldn’t have to walk outside. Plus, I’d probably have to get another wig if I wanted more accurate curls and bangs even though I already have a ridiculous number of blonde wigs. -_-;

Lia’s fencing practice outfit from Le Chevalier D’eon (?)
Another maybe since I could use some simpler costumes for times when I don’t feel like being buried in yards of fabric. The only big thing I’d especially have to make is the vest. I can use the same shirt I wear with my Ekaterina costume and I already have brown boots. If I felt like being lazy, I could probably just buy the pants and get away with reusing one of the wigs I have since her hair doesn’t look as curly in this part of the opening. >_>;

Sarah’s Arabian Nights costume from Kaleido Star (?)
Another maybe. I’ve thought about doing another Sarah and out of her remaining stage costumes, I like the Arabian Nights one best. (I actually like the poster version of Layla’s Arabian Nights costume, too, but I don’t think I could ever look good in those tight white pants. >_>;)

1930s style Nancy Drew
Would still like to do this sometime since Nancy Drew is one of my oldest fandoms but I don’t know when. Maybe, Costume Con next year if I can squeeze it in somewhere? With the older crowd there, it would probably be more likely that someone would actually get it, too.

Stained Glass Fairy
I’ve had the dress sitting around nearly done for almost a year and a half but no accessories. It was supposed to be for Costume Con last year but got dropped and I don’t know when I’ll finish it now because of a lack of good events to wear this for. Like Nancy, I’m not sure if I can squeeze it in for Costume Con next year. And since I included a train on the dress, I wouldn’t want to wear it for something with outdoor areas.

And I still need to decide on something for the Broadway theme at Costume Con next year but my possible ideas for that would probably take up a whole other post!

I do love that dress of Valentine's, but wouldn't even know how to approach the print. That seems to be your specialty! Costume Con 2011 has a broadway theme? Oh no...too many possibilities!

Cyd Charisse in Brigadoon? Anna from the King and I? Chicago?

My head's going to explode. This is information I did not need!!!

Yep, Costume Con 2011 has a Broadway theme! I'm undecided what I want to make since although there are a lot of musicals I love, I can't think of many things where I love a character, love one of their costumes, and would fit them in terms of looks. :-/ Then, there are some shows that I like mainly because of the cast recordings and have never seen onstage so I don't know all the costumes. And other shows which don't have especially distinctive or memorable costumes.
