I’m a bit annoyed because I can’t seem to find the yard of turquoise brocade I bought to remake my Youka sash. I figured I’d work on that until I have time to replace the lavender brocade for Youko but I can’t find it in any of my bags of fabric even though I’m pretty sure I saw it somewhere when tidying up before Christmas. -_- I did find the piece left over from the original sash but it’s not enough. I think I might just buy another yard because I want to get as much costume stuff out of the way as I can before Chinese New Year so I'd rather not wait until it finally decides to show itself again.

Did a little appliqué experiment tonight with some bits of satin. I think it came out pretty well considering I’m not that great at handling curves on the sewing machine and the only time I’ve really done appliqué was the trim on my first Ayame costume back in 2005. (Wow, has it been that long? o_o;) Used some Steam-A-Seam and a layer of stabilizer. The metallic thread broke halfway through but I managed to get to the end after rethreading.

Anyway, the point of this experiment was to see if I could decently stitch such complicated appliqués and if it is feasible for me to attempt the designs for D’s artbook kimono as appliqué. Looks like the answer might be yes, which is nice since I’ve always wanted to do something more involved for that design than just painting it all. :-) Maybe, it’ll finally get done this year!

It's so frustrating when things go mysteriously missing. -__-;

Oooh, the appliqué thing came out really well! X3

Yeah, It's annoying because I know I had it somewhere and now it won't show itself. -_-;

That's not bad! My first applique on curves came out super wonky, but then I nailed it for my husband's Drosselmeyer cloak (which has only seen the light of day once, oops).

Maybe your fabric is in cahoots with my fabric? Let's hide when we're needed for sewing, tee-hee!

Thanks. :-)

Yeah, maybe our fabrics ran away together. -_- Still haven't found mine and I bought another yard to replace it.
