Yay! I got an acceptance for the NYAF masquerade today. ^_^ After I heard about how many entries they got, I had doubts about whether they would pick me since I just applied for a solo walk-on and wouldn’t be eligible for the Yume prize. But I’m glad I’ll be able to present this onstage after missing my chance for Costume Con.

I’ve been working on a new jacket mockup for Ekaterina. I tried just using the sleeve from the men’s pattern but the sleeves still pulled and made it difficult to raise my arms. Checking what my draping book said about patterning sleeves, I found the cap was rather high (about 8”) compared to a normal sleeve. (That seemed to be a problem with the other sleeve I had tried to use, too.) I made a new sleeve by pinning the pattern in place at the shoulder and rotating it to both sides so the bottom of the sleeve cap would end an inch higher. It’s a big improvement over the old sleeve in terms of being able to move my arms. I’m working on patterning the overskirt part now and still need to do the cuffs. Should be able to start sewing the actual jacket in a few days.

The weekend was nice. I went fabric shopping for a bit on Saturday. Bought some stuff to use for lining Ekaterina’s jacket and what was left of a roll of pink with a metallic sheen (a bit more than 2 yards). One of my mother’s friends invited us to a wedding in a couple of months so I’m thinking I’ll make a dress to wear for that out of the pink. Afterwards, I went by Nintendo World for a bit and saw [livejournal.com profile] amande_san, [livejournal.com profile] animeangelblue, [livejournal.com profile] blackjackie999, [livejournal.com profile] neoangelwink, [livejournal.com profile] loudnbothered, and [livejournal.com profile] yeu.

Went out shopping with my family for a bit on both Sunday and Labor Day although I didn’t buy much. Got a dress pattern on sale at JoAnn’s that I’ll probably use with the metallic pink. Was a bit hard to find something I could use with the limited amount of fabric I had.

Well, I’d better go work on Ekaterina some more now!

I wish you luck- I'm done with NYAF atm... so totally sick and tired of the nepotism that's been going on.

Sorry you didn't get in. :-/ I really prefer to do contests without pre-screening but it ended up being a timing thing since the costume was already postponed several months and it's going to be my last con for the year.

Thanks! I hope I'll actually run into you this year! :-) Might be literally since I'll basically have a black sheet over my head. XD;
