I'm in the middle of ripping up my black skirt for Ekaterina so I can take it in again. I've been working from a book of historical patterns and the skirt pattern in there looked pretty simple. It was basically rectangular panels sewn together with a bit cut out at the top in the front so that the hem will be level when worn over panniers. It's pleated into a waistband that ties in the back and the hem goes straight across. It sounds simple and doesn't look like it should take much more than several hours but I've been spending all of my sewing time since Monday on this thing. -_-X

The book said the skirt should pleat to 26 1/2 inches but since there's lots of fabric, I figure I could adjust it if needed. (My waistline is actually a few inches larger with the corset than without.) The skirt came out to more like 37" and I already cut half a dozen pleats out the first time I took it in. And now that I'm adjusting the waistline in the front, it's still a couple of inches too big! If I had the fabric, I'd be tempted to just start over again and leave out two whole panels from the pattern since I'm tired of ripping out. -_-

Bah, back to fixing this thing.

Sewing is like a foreign laguage to me, but you speak it fluently and whatever you do, I'm sure it will look awesome. I haven't seen a horrible outfit posted yet. *waves pom-poms* Go, Sew! Win!
