Since there’s not that much I can do on my costumes until I buy fabric, I decided to throw my 18th century undergarments for Ekaterina on the dressform and take pics. They’ve been finished a while but I was trying to hold off on posting until I could get matching ribbon to tie the straps on the corset. But since it’s going to be at least a couple more days and I’m tired of waiting, oh, well. ^_^;

Anyway, I finally got the panniers to my satisfaction. They have steel hoop boning in them and can collapse to fit through doors. Plus, they double as pockets. ^_^ They have a slit in the top and adding a corresponding slit in your skirts allows you to put things inside. And since there’s boning to hold the shape, putting things in won’t cause lumps. :-D I think this is possibly one of the best things about this costume; I don’t bother to put pockets into most of my costumes because I tend to carry around so many things that they would end up lumpy if I actually used them. I’ll finally have an outfit where I won’t have to carry a bag!

Here’s the corset without the panniers. It fits me better since the dress form doesn’t compress, of course.

The corset laces differently than typical corsets with one end of the lace tied at the top and one at the bottom instead of the usual two ends tied together. I hand stitched the eyelets.

And I threw my Cecelia petticoat over the panniers to get an idea of how it’ll look once I actually have a skirt to go over them.
