My brother gave me the photos from last weekend so here’s the new Count D costume. ^_^ It doesn’t really show in the photo but there’s a leafy pattern with metallic gold threads woven into the coat fabric and it has a soft golden shimmer to it in person. I like that I came out looking suitably pale in the first few. My brother was jokingly asking me that morning if was sick because of the pale makeup. :-P

Here’s the back of the coat. If I do a tailcoat again, I think I won’t have the tails taper next time since the split in the back seems a bit wide. ^_^; Might go back and redo the seam in the back of the skirt since it looks kind of puckered.

Is it just me or do I look like I could have just been Photoshopped into this pic? XD;

We also took a few pictures with the tropical foliage in the conservatory. It turned out to be too crowded in there to do much unfortunately. And the front pic makes me think I should try getting a new binding thingy but I don’t know if it would help much with my huge ribs. >_>;

And if anyone cares to read… silly little PSOH drabble that I wrote the other day.

Eee! Another fantastic D costume.

As for binding, have you ever tried one of these? They work wonders.

Thanks! ^_^ Ooh, if you bring your Ten-Chan out again sometime, we should take pictures together since both outfits are from that scene in the burning house.

For binding, I’ve been layering a couple of sports bras since it’s the quickest way. I’ve heard of items designed especially for binding, like the one you linked, and was wondering about ordering one. I got huge bones from my father though and my ribs stick out just because they’re so large. o_O; My current binding method will take my bust measurement down about 4” to 34” but it’s about 32” around my ribs. So, I’m not sure if one of those binders can flatten me out much more just because of my humongous ribs. :-/

I'd love to! I was thinking of bringing Ten-chan back for MangaNEXT, anyway.

Hmmm. The only way to know for sure is to try it, I think. The vest would probably get you to a 32", too, but unlike sports bras, they do a better job of uniformly flattening your chest, as opposed to strapping down one area.

Hmm... okay. Any suggestions on what to go on for sizing? Like would one size smaller be better? Maybe, I'll look around the crossplay forum at cosplay.com for opinions on the vests. I'd hate to spend the $30 and then find it doesn't do much better than the sports bras. ^_^;;

Such a gorgeous costume! I absolutely adore the colors and the subtle details in the fabric. You make an awesome D.

The backdrop in these photos is so beautiful as well.

Thank you. :-) I improvised the back of the coat a bit since the tails seemed to keep magically changing shape in the artwork! And it's always nice to visit the botanic garden when the blossoms are out. ^_^

Those are beautiful pictures. your brother is getting very good. ^^

I really love the green fabric you used, and the hand sewn piping on the front of the robe, it's so wonderful you do all your detailing by hand too. Your costumes are always so elegant!

When I bind I usually use duct tape and then put a lycra tank top or dress slip over top to smooth things out more. I can't get any smaller than 29" and my ribs are 27ish. I really don't have much difference between my rib measurement and my waist, I have a totally straight figure until you get to my hips, which I guess is why I don't look so good in tight sexy dresses and things. ^^;

I don't think you can or should try to get like completely flat with your ribs. That would not be very good for circulation and stuff. >< Also, wouldn't it just look odd if your chest was narrowed too much? I've heard some corsets can compress your ribs in but I don't ever want to try that.

Thank you! ^_^ The green fabric was a nice find and went pretty well with the brocade I already had.

Most of the time, I prefer to handsew my trims since I know I’m less likely to mess up that way. ^_^; *remembers puckered fabric from machine sewing trim on the blue brocade D robe -_-* Fusibles usually seem to hate me, too, so I don’t trust them to hold well enough. So, hand stitching seems like the best option to me since I’m used to doing lots of it anyway because of cross stitching in the past.

Eep, duct tape sounds like it would hurt. o_o; I agree it probably wouldn’t be good to try to match my ribcage measurement with the binding since my bust sticks out a lot and it does need someplace to go. And I wouldn’t want to mess with my ribs by using a corset either. I think my problem is having both large ribs and a bust that sticks out at such a large angle.

I adore every single one of your D costumes. Just gorgeous! The contact lense is so spooky, but it's a detail that can't be missed! <3 I really must cosplay from PSoH soon.

Thank you! :-) I usually don't bother to buy lenses for costumes since they're so expensive but I really wanted to have them for D after a few costumes.

I'm sure you would do great with a PSOH cosplay and I'd be happy to wear one of my Ds with you sometime! ^_^
