Back to the 19th Century...

For those who didn’t already see on cosplay.com, new Count D costume:
http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=1348361

And a couple of closeups. No cut since I’ve been working on this costume since August and the studio shoot with my brother took ridiculously long to set up and do, too. :-P

Might just be me but I think this one *almost* looks like it could be a still from a movie. Only almost because if it were, it’d definitely have better makeup! I don’t think I do that well with eyes. ^_^;

I have more but those are going to wait until after NYAF!

And speaking of PSOH, I’m really looking forward to the Anime Boston group, which should be awesome. ^_^ Currently, I have…

Count D - myself
D’s grandfather – [livejournal.com profile] novaraven
Leon – novaraven’s friend
Pon-Chan – novaraven’s friend
Ten-Chan – [livejournal.com profile] bloodied_tears
Medusa – [livejournal.com profile] heartxofxlilith
male Toki bird -[livejournal.com profile] jezeroth

If there are any other changes or additions, please let me know. I’ve also sent a PM to the P-Chan I took pictures with at AB this year and asked if she’s interested in joining us but haven’t heard back yet; she doesn’t seem to be on cosplay.com that often. Also, heartxofxlilith, did your friend still want to do Honlon?

And some questions…

I know it’s early but does anyone have input on what day/time we should do the group? I know a couple of us talked about possibly applying for chess as a group but Sunday would be too hectic for pictures if we did that. How’s Saturday morning/early afternoon for people? I think that would be the time least likely to interfere if anyone wants to enter the masquerade or hall contest since it looks like most craftsmanship judging will be done Friday.

And I know that everyone has to fill in their own application this year but I wanted to have an idea… who wants to apply for cosplay chess with Petshop costumes? Registration should be opening in a couple of weeks but there’s no hurry. Just keep in mind that you should have your costume done by the February 23 deadline if you’d like to apply with it. ^_^ Feel free to put other non-Petshop costumes on your applications, too, since I think a big group would more likely be used as special attacks than pieces. I’m probably applying with a D costume and maybe, his sister’s dress.

Oh, and one more unrelated thing…

If you would like a holiday card and missed my post before: http://ladyofthethread.livejournal.com/120143.html Cards have been bought and I’ll try to get them in the mail sometime next week.

I really love the top picture, it is so D. If I do go to Anime Boston, which right now is looking fairly likely, I will definitely get a PSoH together.

Oooh wow! X3 It turned out so awesome! I think this is probably one of my very favorites of your costumes. All your hard work really shows!

EPIC COSTUME IS EPIC. My god, that thing looks fantastic!

And as for group time, Saturday morning-ish sounds good. I'm entering the Masquerade with a couple friends, but it shouldn't interfere with a photoshoot or anything, I hope.

OMG WOW!!! WOW JUST WOW!

I really love it! The beads really show up now that they're gold, and the feathers you used are so pretty too. And matching your jewel with your sash was brilliant. ^^

I need to get working on mine...I'm still collecting supplies. So far behind! I'm hoping my parents go on vacation in january so I have some time to work on it.

If workmanship judging is friday and we take our pics on saturday and then we do chess on sunday... does that mean I have to wear sofu D all weekend if I want to do things?

Thank you! ^_^

Ah, if you’d like to enter the masquerade or hall contest, make sure to read over the info and rules.

Masq: http://www.animeboston.com/events/masquerade/
Hall contest: http://www.animeboston.com/events/cosplay/hall/

The way that the hall judging at AB works is that you have to sign up online (contest registration opens on December 15 and it’s good to register early since the slots fill within a few weeks; masq fills more quickly and you should try to register within the first week or so if you really want to do that).

Closer to the convention, you’ll be assigned a judging time and that will be when you should show up for workmanship judging. Since everyone has appointments, it’ll be quick and you don’t have to sit in a long line waiting for judging. You’ll probably be in and out within 20 minutes so you wouldn’t necessarily have to wear it long then. Next year, it looks like they’re trying to do most of the craftsmanship judging on Friday with some Saturday judging for people with heavy makeup or travel issues. If the costume’s going to take a long time to put on, I suppose you could ask if they’d consider giving you a Saturday judging time when you apply but you wouldn’t be guaranteed to get it.

Haven’t got much time to type now since I still need to get things ready for this weekend but feel free to send me an e-mail if you have more questions on what to expect.
