MangaNext Report/Photos

So, MangaNext was last weekend and I ended up going on Friday and Saturday. Decided not to wear Ayame at the last minute because it was going to be so warm out and pulled out my old Tohru dress instead. My hair was too dark since I haven’t dyed it in ages but oh, well. ^_^;;

My brother and one of his friends were also going so we went into the city to catch the bus. (They didn’t want to get a ride with my father in the morning since the con didn’t start until later.) Due to my brother not being ready on time, we missed the bus and had to wait for the next one an hour later. -_-

Anyway, got to the con a while after 2 and watched what was left of Lady Ava’s panel. The rest of the afternoon was spent talking to people, wandering through artist’s alley and the dealer’s room, and getting a few Tohru photos since it was an older costume that I didn’t have many good pictures of. My father came to pick us up after work so we left around 7.

Saturday got off to a rough start. I had to rush to get ready as Count D and my fake nails just didn’t want to stick. (Helping paint the house finally took its toll on my real nails. I’m hoping they’ll grow back by NYAF.) My father drove us to the hotel and I got a bit carsick, which normally never happens to me. Plus, I didn’t have any contacts in yet so my vision was a bit blurry. So, sorry if you talked to me that morning and I seemed kind of out of it. I can never seem to make it through a con weekend without being frazzled or dazed at some point. ._.;

Still managed to have some fun that day though. Made a very, very brief appearance in cosplay chess. Jamie got me off the board within the first few moves since she knew I wasn’t feeling completely well and I was just an extra in case one of the pieces didn’t show up. Was nice to be able to just sit and watch the rest of the match. ^_^ Afterwards was more wandering, chatting, and getting some new Count D pictures. Had to leave around 7:30 so watching the dating game was an amusing end to the con for me.

my favorite of the Tohru pics my brother took

I guess I forgot to take more pictures in my daze. Sorry. ._.;

And here are the rest of my brother's shots...

Playing hide and seek with Yuki *laugh*

T-Chan, did you have to chase that birdwatcher up a tree?

Uh, oh. Looks like the Count and his pet are plotting something...

This was my brother’s idea and it came out pretty creepy. It looks even freakier when you can zoom in and see the yellow eye better. :-D I wouldn’t want to be whoever D and T-Chan are spying on though… ^_^;

Update on costume progress and other stuff next time.

The shots of you came out really nicely.

I like how your borther was able to hide the swampy backgrund nad so on just by using decent angels and what not.

Thanks. *laugh* My brother was actually saying it might be nice to do something with the river but he didn't like the highway and stuff you could see across the water.

Your brother takes wonderful photography, all the images really highlight the quality of your beautiful costumes! ^^

Thanks. ^_^

Wow, great pictures! The first outfit is so pretty and sunny! I envy people who good in warm colors. And your yellow contact shows up wonderfully against the green leaves in the last photo.
Hmm, dunno if I'd want T-Chan spying on me through the trees, because I'd probably be lunch in the next few minutes...

Thank you. ^_^ I'm glad that these contacts show much better; I just wish I'd remembered to ask my brother to take more closeups.

And yes, T-Chan spying on you through the trees would probably be scary. ^_^;;

^_^ it was great seeing you look so cute in the pics hug

Thanks. It was great seeing you, too. ^_^

Yay more cosplay pics! ^^ I like the one you're using as a preview pic, and the one of you leaning on the railing. T-Chan chasing the birdwatcher. LOL. The spying one came out neat, too!

**looks at the other cosplayers.** Unfortunately, I'm not sure who any of them are, except the ones holding Mokona. XD; Is the second Mokona pic a Tsubasa group? And I wanna say the cosplayer's character in pink with the black wig is familiar....

[identity profile] ladyofthethread.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. ^_^

Yes, that's a Tsubasa group. I don't remember if I've ever seen the original artwork but I believe they're a set of matching artbook outfits for Syaoran, Kurogame, and Sakura. The Fai should be part of the group too but I didn't get a picture of all 4 at once. ^_^;

The character in the pink kimono is Akito from Fruits Basket.

And the 3 girls in the matching dresses are cosplaying Princess Princess. I didn't know that series but thought the costumes were nice. ^_^;

Hello ^^
I'm back for a while! xD
Oooh loved the pictures, especially the last one! *_*

Cosplay chess - I wouldn't stand there for seconds. I'm a nulity at anything that requires using that thing we have inside our head. I believe my head is here just to keep my hair, ears, eyes, etc... xD

Well, at least you could have some fun ^^ I died my brother's hair [blue and green *_*] but my hand is blue, I didn't use the gloves like I should.. so I have now a blue-ish hand, blue nails and it looks like my hands are dead xD shame on me. u.u

Thanks. ^_^

Well, luckily, for cosplay chess, you just have to move where the real players tell you. I barely know how to play chess myself! XD

The photos came out so nicely!
I love your Tohru dress as well, it looks like it would be fun to wear.

[identity profile] ladyofthethread.livejournal.com 2007-10-15 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. ^_^ The Tohru dress is nice since it's relatively simple and comfortable to wear. The complicated costumes with lots of layers can get tiring!

I would imagine! Especially since most convention seem to occur during the warmer months.
