The Petshop of Horrors drabble community had a prompt of “purgatory” for this week’s challenge and the first thing that came to mind was Dante’s Divine Comedy since I took a whole class on it in college (not that I remember much of it now. >_>;).

So, I took a stab at it and came up with this cracked thing. XD; It was kind of forced and didn’t come out nearly as easily as the last one. Overly long, too, since challenge responses were only supposed to be 100 words. ^_^;; Includes spoilers for the end of the series and the side story from volume 2 of Shin PSOH.

Leon fumed. He’d missed D by a day! One day! And the gondolas floating by didn’t help since they just reminded him of being pushed off the Count’s flying boat.

He turned from the canal with a scowl and found himself faced with a bookshop window. He didn’t understand most of the Italian titles but Leon recognized a trio grouped together; he’d had to read them in a college class he’d barely passed.

The Divine Comedy, although he never got what was so funny about it. Some guy named Dante going through hell and purgatory to see his dead girlfriend in heaven. “Damn it! If that guy can do it, so can Leon Orcot!” Not that I even remotely think of D as a dead girlfriend…

“I’ll show the Count I’m worthy of being on his ship.” He clenched his fists, determined, as he headed for the airport. “But if D starts quoting poetry at me, I’ll wring his neck!”

Maybe, I’ll post an actual update tomorrow.

COUGH COUGH

Oh, sorry. I think I may be ill xD

But I looooove them together! *___________* hahaha
And PSoH and Dante! I would never have thought Leon would know about Dante, though... How lovely, hahaha ^^

Isn't it TOTALLY Leon-ish?
Loved the drabble ^^

Thanks. ^_^

LOL The reason I thought the drabble was so crazy was that I was trying to combine PSOH and Dante in the first place. XD; I partly went over the word limit because I felt like I had to put in something about Leon being forced to read Dante in school. I really doubt that Italian poetry is his thing so it would have been really weird if he just randomly knew it! ^_^;

Yeah - the problem with drabbles is that you must stick to the word limit. I tend to write a lot [you already noticed, didn't you?] so I could hardly write a drabble. Nor a fanfic, because in the middle of it I would just give up and do something else. Now, READING them... That's what I can totally do, hahaha

And think of it... Leon would look so lovely reading Dante.. xD

Ah, you might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] psohdrabble then. ^_^ It's where the purgatory challenge theme came from.
