ladyofthethread: (Count D)

Yay, [livejournal.com profile] ngmaster posted photos from the shoot of Count D’s sister! http://www.ng-master.com/cm/thumbnails.php?album=585 And he actually managed to make me look somewhat photogenic! :-D So many times when I’m looking over photos of myself, I end up going, “Argh! My face doesn’t look that fat in the mirror!” >_< But there’s none of that here. ^_^

Here’s a shot that shows the whole costume. (And if anyone is wondering, I bought the fan for $1 in Manhattan. It was the same as the ones that were selling for $6 in the dealer’s room. LOL)

I'm a little disappointed my purple and hazel contacts didn't show at all in closeups after I went to so much trouble to get them. >_< My purple lenses had to be custom made since my optometrist wanted me to have my toric prescription so I hadn't been able to try on samples beforehand and they turned out to be darker than I hoped. And I got regular hazel contacts later after the optometrist agreed to order non-toric ones for me because I figured it would be weird to have a theatrical yellow lens next to the much more natural-looking purple one. Bah, I wonder if I should just start over with the lenses. I hadn't wanted to get the theatrical ones before because I've read you're only supposed to wear them for a few hours at a time and I wanted to be able to see. -_-

And if anyone missed my last post but would be interested in doing a PSOH group, please comment here: http://ladyofthethread.livejournal.com/109129.html

To those of you headed to Otakon this weekend, have fun! :-)

These shots came out beautiful. Is okay about your contacts not showing, you still look awesome without it

Thanks. ^_^ Yeah, the costume is okay without being able to see the contacts. I'm just kind of disappointed it looked like I didn't even have color contacts at all when it was such a hassle to get them.

Oooh, I love the pics! ^^ They turned out awesomely! The dress and the wrap/scarf thing are so pretty, and the shoes look authentic. It's too bad the paint started cracking so soon. :(

Blurgh, that is frustrating about the contacts. -.-

Yeah, the possibility of cracked paint is why I really would rather have had a purchased pair of pink shoes in the right color. -_- And the contacts thing was a bit annoying since I'm not sure if even people I talked to in person at the con noticed them.

I think you look fine without the colour contacts anyways. It is true that if you want them to show up in pics you have to go for the really bright theatrical ones, and you have to generally sacrifice good vision to do so. That's one of my biggest problems when cosplaying, which is why I really don't like being without a group to pick me up when I walk into walls and such. ^^;

You're pics look awesome! I love your shoes and wrap matching, they bring out the flowers in the brocade so well! ^^

Maybe, I'll go by the optometrist again sometime and see if he'll give me a copy of my prescription without the toric. The hazel lenses I've been using seem okay even without the toric and I know Cosplay Lab has opaque purple lenses that can be ordered in regular prescriptions. Yellow is more of a problem since not all of the unnatural colors come in prescription but I suppose it would be okay if I only used it for D. (The power I need for my right eye is relatively weak.)

Hey there, this is Amanda... if you remember me. XD; Saw you @ AN and was with [livejournal.com profile] chibiko721 and [livejournal.com profile] shinei most of the time. Just letting you know that I'm adding you, since I have a habit of forgetting to do just that. @_@;

Great pics, you look lovely! :D
