New costume pics

Yay,
ngmaster posted photos from the shoot of Count D’s sister! http://www.ng-master.com/cm/thumbnails.php?album=585 And he actually managed to make me look somewhat photogenic! :-D So many times when I’m looking over photos of myself, I end up going, “Argh! My face doesn’t look that fat in the mirror!” >_< But there’s none of that here. ^_^
Here’s a shot that shows the whole costume. (And if anyone is wondering, I bought the fan for $1 in Manhattan. It was the same as the ones that were selling for $6 in the dealer’s room. LOL)

I'm a little disappointed my purple and hazel contacts didn't show at all in closeups after I went to so much trouble to get them. >_< My purple lenses had to be custom made since my optometrist wanted me to have my toric prescription so I hadn't been able to try on samples beforehand and they turned out to be darker than I hoped. And I got regular hazel contacts later after the optometrist agreed to order non-toric ones for me because I figured it would be weird to have a theatrical yellow lens next to the much more natural-looking purple one. Bah, I wonder if I should just start over with the lenses. I hadn't wanted to get the theatrical ones before because I've read you're only supposed to wear them for a few hours at a time and I wanted to be able to see. -_-
And if anyone missed my last post but would be interested in doing a PSOH group, please comment here: http://ladyofthethread.livejournal.com/109129.html
To those of you headed to Otakon this weekend, have fun! :-)

Date: 2007-07-18 03:16 am (UTC)Blurgh, that is frustrating about the contacts. -.-

Date: 2007-07-19 04:58 pm (UTC)Yeah, the possibility of cracked paint is why I really would rather have had a purchased pair of pink shoes in the right color. -_- And the contacts thing was a bit annoying since I'm not sure if even people I talked to in person at the con noticed them.

Date: 2007-07-19 05:29 pm (UTC)Yeah, the costume looks okay without the color contacts. I'm just disappointed it looks like I didn't even have contacts at all when I went to so much hassle to get them. -_-; I'm not even sure if people I talked to in person at the con noticed them.
Maybe, I'll go by the optometrist again sometime and see if he'll give me a copy of my prescription without the toric. The hazel lenses I've been using seem okay even without the toric and I know Cosplay Lab has opaque purple lenses that can be ordered in regular prescriptions. Yellow is more of a problem since not all of the unnatural colors come in prescription but I suppose it would be okay if I only used it for D. (The power I need for my right eye is relatively weak.)
