Well, my brother managed to get his photography portfolio together in time and had his interview at FIT yesterday. He says they seemed to like his stuff. Now, that he has time again, I should be able to get some pictures to post. ^_^ I asked for the ones of me that he included in the portfolio plus a bunch of others.
Work on Ayame’s coat was started over the weekend. I changed my mind about the coat pattern I was going to use after deciding it was going to take a lot more alteration than another one I’d sewn with in the past. (Folkwear’s Model T Duster: http://www.folkwear.com/230.html) Plus, since I’d already made a coat with the Folkwear pattern, I could try it on and better see where I needed to modify. I’ve figured most of it out except for the sleeves. Will probably have to experiment and do something in muslin first for that since the pattern has a fitted two-piece sleeve but I need something that flares a bit instead and with extra cuff details. I did try drafting a one-piece sleeve from instructions in my draping book but not sure how well it’d fit since the cap’s shape differs from the original pattern piece a lot. ^_^;
But most of the fabric for the body of the coat has been cut out and I might start on a bit of sewing later. Should try to go shopping for notions soon since I need things like buttons for this coat.
