Petshop of Horrors artbook

To those going to AnimeUSA this weekend, have fun! ^_^

Let’s see… Yesterday evening was spent doing pictures of my new Count D costume since my brother bought lights (with stands and umbrellas) over the weekend and wanted to test them out. Hopefully, there will be some good pictures from this. We had to pin white fabric to the living room curtains since there’s just not much room to work with in our cluttered house. ^_^;;

And now a few selections from the Petshop of Horrors artbook… I really like this picture from the cover. If I ever feel like making myself crazy trying to duplicate designs on a Count D outfit again, it will probably be this one. XD; I’ve seen butterfly patterned Chinese brocades but the designs aren’t nearly as large.

I also like this kimono and think it would make a pretty cherry blossom festival outfit. Not next year though since my original Count D should already do nicely for next spring’s sakura matsuri. (Wow, I’m done way ahead of time for once. I’ve worked on outfits right up to a couple of days before the festival the past two years. ^_^;)

Count D with a lot of sweets… I didn’t notice until the second time I looked through the book but I love the tiny Leon in the background with the o_O; expression. XD

D in Ancient Egyptian garb? O_o I had thought the peacock dress was one of Count D’s most unusual outfits before but this one definitely beats it!

And the other half of this page features Count D with his father. Considering how D didn’t seem to like his father much and thought at one point his father was sending an assassin after him, seeing them look so lovey dovey kind of scares me. O_O;;

Lots of D’s. Hmm… I can’t decide if the picture is supposed to be multiple versions of the 4 D’s we actually meet in the manga or include others, too, since they’re sort of like clones. Like I had assumed the one in red and black was supposed to also be Count D from the hair when I first saw the picture in the manga. But in this colored version, that one has two blue eyes rather than mismatched eyes so I don’t know. D’s grandpa also has similar hair but somehow, I can’t quite picture him in that kind of outfit. Actually, it’s kind of strange to see any of the D’s in that, considering their typical outfits from the story; sometimes these artbook pics seem kind of OOC clothes wise. *thinks of another one with long gloves and a ridiculous amount of lacing* o_o;
