Well, I’m back from AnimeNext but tired so complete thoughts will have to wait for another time. Cosplay chess this morning was fun and it gave me a chance to wear my Tohru sundress again at a con. It was a pretty warm weekend so that was a welcome change after being buried under fabric on Saturday. XD;
The theme for the match was angst vs. sugar so, of course, I was on the sugar side. I was placed as a pawn next to a Momiji which worked out well later on. A couple of the voice acting guests provided some amusing commentary for the two sides during the game.
I got moved forward one space at the beginning and then stayed there for a good part of the game while play was concentrated on the other side of the board. Eventually, I got to capture a hollow Ichigo which was funny since he had a large sword while Tohru is weaponless. Since Tohru’s clumsy, my “attack” was to trip and bump into people. Or, at least, that was what I was trying to make it look like. Not sure how well I did. ^_^; And unintentionally, the animals in my basket went flying when I attacked. ^_^;; Then, right afterwards, I got killed by a demon Inuyasha. I fell over and Momiji was conveniently nearby to cry over my death. XD;
In the end, the angst side (very heavily favored by the audience) won. Oh, well. It was still fun lots of fun to watch/be in.

Date: 2006-06-20 03:36 pm (UTC)The game wasn't scripted. They actually had a pair of chess players playing a game and telling the cosplayers to move to mimic the pieces. This lead to some occasional lulls when the players were deciding on moves so the host and VAs filled in the time by talking to some of the cosplayers on the board. Like Roy from FMA was asked "Are moogles flammable?" since there was one on the board nearby.
