Cosplay update
Jul. 12th, 2010 11:18 pmStill not completely sure about Otakon since my grandmother has been slowly improving but is still in the hospital. At this point, I think there’s an 80% chance I’ll still go. It’s my least favorite large con and considering how hot it’s likely to be, I wouldn’t mind missing it that much. But my brother has never gone before and has been nagging me about it. >_>; If I do make it, I’d still like to do the costume tea party idea I mentioned a couple of months back. If anyone else is interested, let me know. (I’d be open to friends bringing guests.)
Other than that and taking advantage of the hotel for photos, I don’t think I’ll be doing much. I should have the coat for my Kyoya costume done but it’s unlikely that I’ll have anything completely new. And I want to bring my Tamaki costume so I can get nicer photos of it at the hotel. There’s not much else I especially want to rewear since a lot of my costumes are so many layers and there aren’t new photos that I want to do with them; I like my D kimono but a long black kimono in the middle of summer doesn’t seem like a great idea. x_x; I think I might just bring cowgirl Sarah and Eugenie since I’d be least likely to overheat in them.
Kyoya coat is being worked on. I didn’t really feel like trying to work on cosplay stuff the first week and a half that my grandmother was in the hospital. I finally finished my pattern alterations last week and sewed my lining together over the weekend. The outside of the coat has been cut and I’m working on putting some of the trim on before I sew it together. Here’s a sleeve and one of the front pieces of the coat. Satin with metallic brocade and gold trim. It’s the same purple satin that I used for my pants and not nearly as blue as my camera made it look.
Finally, I’ve cleaned up my friends list a bit. Mainly, I removed journals that haven’t been posted in since 2008 and seem abandoned. And in some cases if our interests seem to have drifted apart and we never talk. If you were removed, it’s nothing personal. Almost all of my entries are public so they can still be read if you wish. Or if my cosplay babble bores you, you can remove me as well.
