Hope everyone had a good weekend. ^_^ I was out quite a bit. Went fabric shopping on Saturday and went to the mall with my family yesterday. Got a couple of shirts and a new mystery novel to read. Plus, we had a barbecue in our backyard on Sunday, which we hadn’t done for a few years. So, it was a fun weekend.

I’ve gotten started on Lia. I made the wrist and sleeve bows and have the main part of the petticoat done except for the flounce. But it looks like it is going to take more work than I thought due to a few issues so I’m postponing it until Otakon. I did a mockup of the bodice last weekend and it fits well around the torso but the straps of my corset stick out past the neckline. -_-; Part of the problem seems to be that the top of the corset tends to overlap in the back when I lace myself into it since the neckline is several inches higher in the back than the front. Also, since my silk for the dress is such a light color, I’m having issues with the undergarments showing through. So, I’ll need to make an extra petticoat and see if I can find a lining heavy enough that the contrasting binding on the corset doesn’t show through.

So, I’m switching to working on Kyoya’s final episode costume since it was the other thing I wanted to have by Otakon. I don’t know if I would finish the jacket by AnimeNext but I already have a ruffled white shirt and should be able to do the other parts in the next couple of weeks. Then, I’d at least have half of a new costume that I can still wear instead of an unfinished costume that I can’t wear at all. >_>;

I went out on Saturday and bought some more fabric for it. I had to give up on the idea of trying to do the jacket and pants in velvet though. -_- I kept running around to different stores looking for purple velvet and nothing ever seemed quite right; a lot of the purples tended to run towards blue or red or were too dark or too light and some looked cheap and not nice enough. The best I could find was $20 a yard and even then, I wasn’t completely crazy about it since it was stretch. So, although I really wanted velvet, I ended up buying satin instead. -_- At least, it was a lot cheaper. I have brocades for the vest and bought shoes but I still need to get gold trim to use on the jacket. Went into several trimming stores but haven’t found one I really liked yet.

I’m also fixing up my nyosen uniform since there’s another Twelve Kingdoms cosplayer going to AnimeNext and we’re going to try to take pictures together. I’m almost done remaking my sash; it just needs a few more snaps. The rest will mostly be gathering all the pieces together and ironing them before the con. I’ve been wanting to rewear this since it only made it to a couple of cons the year that I made it.

And while at the mall yesterday, I found a $10 pair of boots I can possibly paint for another costume. I have a couple of things around the house I can use and there are a couple other things I’d need to buy. But the two pieces I’d actually have to make probably wouldn’t take much more than a weekend after I get my hands on the fabric and trims. Don’t think I’ll say what it is yet in case it turns out to look ridiculous on me and I drop it. ^_^;;
