Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! :-)
Just stayed home in the evening but went out in the afternoon in one of my old Count D robes, the blue brocade one. I met my brother in the city and we went to take pictures in Chinatown. We did some at a restaurant where I just got fruit and ice cream since I’d already eaten. ^_^; I wanted strawberries so I could play on Q-Chan’s love of strawberries and pretend to feed them to my plushie but they were out. So, I had to settle for mango instead. Afterwards, we also took some pics along one of the quieter side streets. I found it funny that it seemed like everyone was walking past me and then turning back to look. A Chinese person in a Chinese dress in Chinatown on Halloween… Even with the mismatched contacts, it’s not as if it’s that interesting or outlandish for that setting. :-P
Not much new progress on the fairy costume although I did make it out to buy more fabric and some beads the other day. I have black organza that I’m going to use for the wings and I’m planning to cover them with little fusible appliques cut from scraps of my stained glass fabric. I’m using HeatnBond and basically cutting away all the black in the stained glass fabric so I’ll have little color pieces I can rearrange.
For accessories, I’m thinking a velvet ribbon choker with a fabric flower to one side; I’d have several strands of beads hanging from the flower in graduated lengths with colored Swarovski teardrops at the ends. And a similar flower with more bead strands to go in one side of my hair. Not sure what I’ll do about hair yet. Might get a new wig if I don’t like any of the ones I have with the dress.
Meanwhile, I’m still working things out on the dress. Only the bodice is actually sewn so far; the sleeve detailing isn’t finished and they hang funny without an arm. The rest is just pinned on with an underskirt stolen from a D costume to help me figure out how the overskirt/train fabric would drape with a skirt under it. The real skirt is going to be black and the train isn’t actually going to be this long, probably only about 2 feet. Need to figure out how to cut the train so that that front of the overskirt won’t flip over like it does in the front pic.
