When I posted my Eugenie shoes, [livejournal.com profile] selphie84 asked what I used to paint them and if I had any problems with cracking. I wanted to give a detailed response but didn’t have time then since I was rushing to finish the costume. ^_^;; But now that the con’s over and I’ve had a chance to catch up with some things, I thought I’d do a post about my experiences with using different products on shoes in case anyone else might find it helpful.

My costume ideas keep jumping around this week although they’re usually not so hyperactive. ^_^; Right now, I’m tempted to make something random. First, I was thinking of making one of these bustled gowns since I have the pattern and 7 yards of light blue brocade that have been sitting around my house for 4 years. The brocade was supposed to be for Lili’s ballgown from Zodiac P.I. but I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of ever making it.

And now, I’m thinking of finally doing a fairy costume with the stained glass fabric I bought a couple of years ago. The original idea I had for it was a layered handkerchief hem skirt and a corset with alternating black and patterned panels. But now I’m thinking something elegant based off Folkwear’s empire dress pattern; black with stained glass overlay for the bodice and sleeves, black skirt, stained glass overskirt with a train, and black wings embellished with pieces from the stained glass fabric.

Well, I suppose now would be a good time for random costumes since I’m not planning to go to another anime con until AB at the end of next May. I want to go to Costume Con in early May though and will probably go to NYCC just to have a con between now and then.
