Grr… Shoes for my new costume are really aggravating me. Getting plain pink flats should not be this hard! But practically all the pink shoes in that style are either pastel pink (too light) or hot pink/neon pink (too bright) and those colors would not go well with the rest of the costume. >_<
Today, I returned a pair of pink beaded Chinese slippers I bought last week. They fit well but the color just turned out to be too bright.
Then, I went to Aldo and bought a pair of flats. The style didn’t fit my wide feet very well (the toe was very shallow and the sides were kind of low) but the color was the best I’ve been able to find to coordinate with my dress and shawl.
After my parents saw them, they were yelling at me that they didn’t fit and I have to take them back. (I didn’t really like the style but I bought them because I couldn’t find anything better colorwise. >_>) My mother insisted they didn’t fit at all and my father said I should get the next size and he’d stuff the back to make it fit. (How does that even make sense when it’s just longer?!) He also told me I should go buy those Chinese slippers again and a can of spray paint to use on them so that I’d have at least one pair of shoes that would work.
There’s only 3 more days until AnimeNext and I still need to gather all my costume pieces, iron stuff, pack, etc. The clothes came out so well that I don’t want the shoes to look stupid but I don’t really have time to waste running around town, looking for shoes either. >_<
Sometimes, I think it’s things like shoe hunting which are more frustrating than sewing the costume. I’m pretty good at sewing so I can probably get the clothes right given enough time. But there’s only so much you can do with shoes since people generally can’t build their own shoes from scratch. *grumble*
EDIT: Bah, I don't want to make another trip into the city for shoes this week. I have pink fabric paint so I'll just paint the pair of black flats that I haven't worn in years. >_>
