Costume Progress
Jan. 30th, 2007 04:06 pmHmm… It’s been a while since I’ve posted any costume progress pics so I thought I’d put up what I have of my Ayame shirt. (for this outfit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/LadyoftheThread/misc/ayamech72.jpg) The top is finished except for buttons but I still need to add the skirt part. The red leaf-patterned brocade is what I’m going to be using for the coat that goes over the shirt.

I’m not a great fan of lace and wish I could have found a black brocade with gold floral patterns instead of doing lace overlays. I’m often attracted to shiny stuff but… ( This looks terribly gaudy with flash… ._.; ) I’m glad the coat’s going to cover up most of it.
Despite not being completely crazy about the fabric, I do like the sewing I did and it’s very neat on the inside. ^_^ Hmm… I wonder what’s the best way to finish an armhole seam. I ended up putting seam binding over mine because flat-felled seams and French seams didn’t seem like they would work well considering all the little gathers in the sleeve cap. I think that’s the one part on the inside that doesn’t look quite as neat as everything else.
