"Everything today is thoroughly modern."
Jun. 10th, 2006 10:54 pmWell, today, I went out to the store to have a look a look at the laser cutting machines I mentioned the other day. They’re hooked up to a computer and act like a “printer,” cutting out shapes from files in Corel Draw. (They're made by this company: http://www.epiloglaser.com/) My father’s business partner was running the machines today and cutting out dozens of little motifs in an assortment of colors for a customer in England. Rather than trying out the machine myself, I mostly observed and asked a few questions. Plus, collected the finished motifs and packed them according to shape/color. (I’ve discovered the best way to remove them from the sheet of plastic is to punch them out with the back end of a pen. You’re less likely to get poked by points plus it’s much quicker than trying to pull them free with your fingers. ^_^;)
But it seems like my father just found a prospective employee who knows something about computers. So, he’s back to saying I should do his bookkeeping instead of this modern, high tech stuff. Guess he has decided he’s scared I might accidentally blow something up, too. >_>;
Then, we came home and went out to dinner with relatives for my father's birthday (Chinese food, of course) so now I'm stuffed. Going to rest a bit, maybe sew a few more sequins and go to bed.
