I'm sorry you're having so much trouble getting a credit card. =/ I have heard that Chase is really good, though. I just got my bank of america visa transferred to a Chase card (well 3k of it anyways) and it wasn't too bad. But then I have a lot of credit history for someone my age. I hope that everything works out for you! =)
God, do not get me started on Countrywide. My last job was with them, and I just recently realized that it falls under the 'slave labor' category. I was told when I got the job from the temp agency that when there was a lot of work there would be mandatory overtime, a couple of hours a day and sometimes on saturdays. I had no clue that that meant I would work 55+ hours a week for three months straight. Also, because I was very quick and accurate at entering docs they moved me to their warehouse section. We weren't allowed to leave for the day until all of the work was finished. And there were only 12 or 15 of us at most. So I worked a lot of 12-hour days. Honestly, my debt wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't've had to quit right out of the blue last june before I had a new job to go to. It took me two months to find a new one. I've heard there are a couple of class-action suits against them, but I don't think there's anything specifically like this. I'm not sure how to get in on it, but it would make me feel a lot better about the whole wretched ordeal of having my first full-time job scar me so badly. I didn't like the person I was becoming when I worked there. It was making me mean. =(
