Oh, wow, I didn't know you were a Nancy Drew fan also! :-D My sister read some of them, too, and we collected a ton of the books over the years, probably 150-200 of them! I play the Nancy Drew computer games, too.

Yeah, that's an old cover, it's the one that was used when the book was first published in 1930. And there was a Christmas ornament based on it a few years back for the 75th anniversary. ^_^

Not sure how many times the cover art has changed over the years but the text of the book you can buy now is actually different from the one first published. In the late fifties, they started revising the early books to remove racial stereotypes and update the language. Plus, the books were shortened to 20 chapters from the original 25 and some had plot changes.

It was several years before I found out about the old versions and I wouldn't be surprised if many people only knew the revised ones. Applewood Books started slowly reprinting the originals in the early '90s but the project seems to have died out. The latest one I can find on Amazon is book 21 with a 2005 publication date. I have a bunch of the reprints and I think it's interesting to compare how they changed.
